  • Dear Paul,
Whilst the material on your site is excellent. you touch very little on the Spanish version of nymph fishing. Howard Croston leader system appears to be it. There is a very short video somewhere on utube of you extolling the Spanish system, and that is about it.
What about some input on the Spanish system on the scale you have produced on the French leader system.

    • Thanks for the request Trevor – it’s a good one to add to the long list of ongoing articles and videos to create!

As I experiment more with it I think it would also belong well in future online nymphing course materials too..

      Best wishes,

      Paul

  • Your eloquent dialogue on why fly fishermen fear change is something that all Bamboo rodmakers should read!!!Time for the model A snake guide to go away I personally have been tilting at that windmill since I discovered the lined single foot SiC guide from Fuji in the late 1980’s and I have been a hard core proponent of that guide ever since the Fuji rep gave me a set and said build a fly rod with these, I did!! and now we have advanced from the Silicon Carbide to the Silicon Nitride rings which are extremely light and have almost a 0 friction co-efficiency. This is a modern parable or reflection of how it took over 50 years to accept the snake guides I.E. circa 1864-1904-15 and it is a perfect example of your thoughts on why fly fishermen fear change. I would like to humbly ask you if I could share your paper on that subject with full credits to you as the author on a couple of the facebook bamboo fly fishing pages?? those peo[ple need to read what you wrote as should All fly fishermen.
Thanks for your time and consideration of my request
    Humbly yours

I’ve emailed you personally with some information which I hope will be of use,

      Paul

  • Superb site and resources, perfect for someone like me who is returning to fishing after many years of absence and is bamboozled by some of the changes/terminology/tackle. Really well written and enormously helpful……thank you.

    • Thank you very much for saying so Mel – I’m delighted by your comment because your situation is one of the exact scenarios we created Fishing Discoveries to serve.

Keep at it and I hope you find enjoyment in re-familiarising yourself with this great pastime.

      Paul
