Smart gear choices for that intoxicating bass & predator BITE
My grandfather owned a fishing shop in the years leading up to World War 2 in the North West of England. I still own two of my favourite things that survived from his collection of gear and shop equipment. Firstly the single-hander American-made (Pflueger) baitcasting rod/reel combo and secondly the stack of lure and tackle brochures from the 1930s.
Probably my love for modern pike jerk bait rod and reel combos (in fact for all my lures and predator kit) owes a lot to the romance of those lovely old-school predator gear designs and beautiful brochure illustrations. The evolution of materials and designs has been astonishing to experience.
One thing that never changes is the heart-stopping moment when a predator slams your rod over and the fight is suddenly on. I truly hope the guidance below can help you find the gear you end up being bonded to for life.
